DeltaTalk Radio -- Podcast -- June 30, 2011

Happy 4th of July!

A great show, featuring Mississippians who clearly serve our region and our area with a big Mississippi heart!

Featured on today's show:

Leigh Ann Mattox, recreation director for Tupelo Parks & Recreation. She's just one of the people responsible for Tupelo's 25th Anniversary "All-America City Family Picnic in the Park" on the 4th of July. She gives us some insight into The Big Bang, and a little behind-the-scenes on the 18 facilities run by the Parks people.

Megan Hines, education coordinator for the Greenville Arts Council. We had her on at the beginning of the month to talk about her clever use of social media to raise money to buy musical instruments for one of the poorest regions in the state (and in the country, for that matter). www.Greenville-Arts-Council.com.

Scott Burns, former U.S. Marine, a disabled vet, camping out at the Mall at Barnes Crossing to raise money to buy long distance calling cards for GIs overseas who still have to pay for their own calls! (www.ISupportTheTroops.org).

All that and more!

Enjoy the show and make sure to follow DeltaTalk on Facebook and Twitter (@DeltaTalk). As always, you can reach me at Mike@DeltaTalkRadio.com. You can also call our message line at 662-205-NEMS (6367) to record feedback we might use on the air!

Thanks for listening -- and for helping to make positive-media programming possible on the SuperTalk Mississippi Radio Network. DeltaTalk, a one-hour show, airs Thursday mornings at 9am on SuperTalk 102.FM in Tupelo.
